SPRAYERS

PRODUCT GUIDE

A sprayer will be a really important tool for your garden and will be needed to apply certain treatments to your lawn, in particular iron sulphate. You will find a few different options when you are looking at purchasing a sprayer and they all work perfectly well, however, each type is better suited to different sized gardens.

All of these work by pumping the sprayer to create a vacuum and subsequently allowing the liquid to be sprayed. When looking for a sprayer, it is good to look for ones that have a nozzle which gives you the flexibility to opt for a fine stream as well as a cone setting.

Knapsack - 9/10

A knapsack sprayer is the top end of the options and you will find these from £20. They are worn on the back and have the largest capacity of the 3 options, so it is best suited to the largest of lawns (200m2 and above) and would be too big for most lawns.

For a reasonably priced option, try this knapsack sprayer on Amazon.

Knapsack Sprayer
Bottle + Wand - 8/10

The bottle sprayers are the next step down from the knapsack and would be most suited to the majority of gardeners. You can normally pick these up for £10 and are perfect for anything from a small up to a large lawn.

In general, this is going to be the best option for most gardeners, so if you are unsure, opt for the bottle and wand sprayer.

If you are looking for a sturdy option, go for the Spear & Jackson sprayer.

Bottle & Wand Sprayer
Handheld - 6/10

The handheld spray bottle is the smallest and the cheapest option, with them being available for £5. If you have a small lawn then these will be perfectly fine for you, but if your lawn is any bigger than that, it will start to get rather hard work to cover a full lawn with this. As it does not have a wand attached to the bottle, you need to bend over to use it, so it can be a little hard work to use if covering a full lawn with this.

If you are looking for a handheld sprayer, try this one on Amazon.
